Find Text
This is the Text Finder action in the Add Action list, the same as Text Reader's Find mode.
This action works similarly to , but searches for text instead of an image.
- On Find Behavior: Defines what condition triggers a success.
- Click Found Text: Waits for the text, then clicks the found text location. Returns success if found and clicked.
- Click Best Match (Fuzzy): Uses a looser best-match search, then clicks the found text location. Returns success if a match is found and clicked.
- Wait Till Appear: Waits for the text to appear, then continues without clicking. Returns success if the text is found.
- Wait Till Vanish: Waits until the text is no longer found in the capture region. Returns success when the text disappears.
- Match Mode: How the text is searched.
- Exact: Requires a perfect match.
- Contains: Matches if the target is found inside other text.
- Regex: Allows advanced pattern matching (e.g.,
\d+for any number).
- Timeout (ms): How long to keep searching before giving up and triggering the On Fail actions. New Find Text actions default to
5000ms. - Refresh Rate (scans/sec): How many OCR searches per second to run while waiting. Higher values react faster but use more CPU and battery. The default is
5. - Fast Mode: Uses fewer scaling checks to increase scan speed. Enable this if you need rapid detection and the text size is consistent.
- Granularity: How to search for the text.
Wordfinds the exact word,Linematches if it appears in a line, andParagraphmatches within a larger block of text.Auto (any of the above)tries all three; use it when you are not sure how the app groups its text.
Click Options
The two clicking behaviours get the same timing controls as , under Click Options:
- Pre-Click Delay and Post-Click Wait, pauses either side of the tap.
- Duration (ms), how long the press is held. Defaults to
50here rather than a flat tap. - Repeat, how many taps to send.
- Random Radius (px), scatters the tap point a little so it is not the same pixel every time.
Save Result To Variable
At the bottom of the Detection tab you can name a variable that stores where the text was found, so a later action can act on that position. Name it label and a later can use %label.x% and %label.y%; %label.text% holds the text that matched, and %label.found% whether it matched at all. This is separate from the Text Reader's own variable in Read mode, which stores the text itself rather than its position. See for the full list of parts and the guidance on guarding a miss.
On Success & On Fail
Just like Image Detection, you can put any actions you want inside the On Success and On Fail tabs.
- On Success: Runs the actions here if the text condition passes.
- On Fail: Runs the actions here if the text condition fails (e.g., it times out).
Code Equivalent
// The smartest way to click text is to find it first, then click the match
let region = new Region(0, 800, 1080, 400);
// You can also use "regex" mode for advanced pattern matching
let textMatch = region.findText("\\d+", { timeout: 5000, mode: "regex", scanRate: 5 });
if (textMatch) {
console.log("Found regex match at: " + textMatch.cx + ", " + textMatch.cy);
textMatch.click({ duration: 500, repeat: 3, delay: 100 });
} else {
console.log("Not found");
}
